Glovebox PIN and Valet Mode
Before you hand your Tesla to a hotel valet, a garage or a car wash, two features protect your car and your data.
Glovebox PIN
Go to Controls > Safety > Glovebox PIN and set a four-digit code. The glovebox then needs the PIN to open from the touchscreen. It's a handy place to keep documents and your USB drive with dashcam footage.
Valet Mode
Turn on Valet Mode from the car's profile menu or the app, and set a four-digit PIN. While it's on:
- Top speed and acceleration are limited.
- The glovebox and frunk are locked.
- Your home and work addresses, contacts and saved driver profiles are hidden.
- Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings can't be changed.
Turn it off with your PIN when you get the car back.
Service Mode is different
Tesla technicians use their own service tools. You don't need Valet Mode for a Tesla service appointment, but it's sensible to remove personal items.
