Toybox and Easter eggs
Every Tesla has an app on the touchscreen called Toybox. It holds features that are just for fun. What's available depends on your car and software version.
Features owners love
- Light Show: the car plays a choreographed show with its lights, windows and music. See Light Show.
- Emissions Testing Mode: a joke "whoopee cushion" that makes rude noises from a chosen seat, triggered with the indicator stalk or scroll wheel.
- Mars: changes the map to the surface of Mars and the car icon to a rover.
- Rainbow Road: a colourful road on the driving visualisation when Autopilot is on (enable it in Toybox, then engage Autopilot).
- Romance Mode: a crackling fireplace on the screen with heating and music.
- Sketchpad: draw on the screen and save your art.
- Custom horn and lock sounds: see Boombox and custom sounds.
- Arcade: games you can play when parked, some with the steering wheel as a controller.
Hidden extras
Tesla adds Easter eggs in updates. Release notes rarely mention them all, so owners find them by experimenting. Check the Toybox after each update.
Battery use
Most Toybox features use very little energy. Games and video use more, especially with the heating or air conditioning on. Plug in if you're going to play for a long time.
