Model Y charging guide
The Model Y is the UK's most popular Tesla. It shares much of its charging hardware with the Model 3 but uses a bit more energy per mile because it's bigger.
Charging speeds
| Where | Model Y RWD | Model Y Long Range or Performance |
|---|---|---|
| 3-pin socket | about 2.3 kW | about 2.3 kW |
| Home charger (single-phase) | about 7 kW | about 7 kW |
| Three-phase AC | up to 11 kW | up to 11 kW |
| Supercharger peak | lower than Long Range | up to 250 kW |
Typical times
- Home, 7 kW: 20% to 80% overnight in roughly 6 to 7.5 hours depending on battery size.
- Supercharger: 10% to 80% in roughly 25 to 35 minutes with a warm battery.
- 50 kW rapid charger: 10% to 80% in roughly an hour.
Range
EV Database estimates 235 miles for the RWD and around 285 to 295 miles for Long Range and Performance versions in real-world mixed driving.
Battery type
RWD versions often use LFP batteries; Long Range and Performance use nickel-based batteries. See Battery care.
