Model 3 charging guide
The Model 3 is Tesla's most efficient car, which means more miles from every kWh you put in.
Charging speeds
| Where | Model 3 RWD | Model 3 Long Range or Performance |
|---|---|---|
| 3-pin socket | about 2.3 kW | about 2.3 kW |
| Home charger (single-phase) | about 7 kW | about 7 kW |
| Three-phase AC | up to 11 kW | up to 11 kW |
| Supercharger peak | lower than Long Range | up to 250 kW |
Typical times
- Home, 7 kW: 20% to 80% overnight in roughly 6 to 7.5 hours depending on battery size.
- Supercharger: 10% to 80% in roughly 25 to 35 minutes on a V3 or V4 site with a warm battery.
- 50 kW rapid charger: 10% to 80% in roughly an hour.
Times are approximate and longer in cold weather.
Battery type
Many RWD Model 3s have an LFP battery: charge to 100% regularly, as Tesla recommends. Long Range and Performance have a nickel-based battery: use a daily limit around 80 to 90%. See Battery care.
Range
EV Database estimates 275 miles for the RWD and up to 360 miles for the Long Range RWD in real-world mixed driving. See Which Tesla?
