Can non-Tesla cars use Superchargers?
Yes, at many sites. Tesla has opened a growing share of its UK Superchargers to other electric cars with a CCS2 port. Zapmap reported in 2026 that more than half of the UK network is now open to all.
How other drivers use them
- Download the Tesla app and create an account, adding a payment card.
- Find a Supercharger marked as open to non-Tesla cars.
- Choose the stall number in the app, plug in and start charging from the app.
They pay a higher price per kWh than Tesla owners unless they buy Supercharging Membership. See Supercharger prices and fees.
Why some take two bays
Superchargers were designed for Teslas, which have the charge port at the back left. Many other cars have their port elsewhere, so the short cable on V2 and V3 stalls can only reach by parking across two bays or using the stall next door. V4 stalls have longer cables to solve this.
Does it affect Tesla owners?
Tesla says it opens sites where there is spare capacity, and monitors congestion. At busy sites, Tesla owners still benefit from live availability in the car's navigation and from lower prices.
