Keep Climate On and Cabin Overheat Protection
Tesla has several ways to keep climate running when you leave the car.
Keep Climate On modes
| Mode | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Keep | A short stop with someone in the car, or to keep the cabin comfortable while you pop out |
| Dog | Pets in the car; shows a message to passers-by. See Dog Mode |
| Camp | Sleeping or relaxing in the car; keeps lights, USB power and music on. See Camp Mode |
All three keep the climate system running and use battery while parked. The car warns you if the battery gets low.
Cabin Overheat Protection
Cabin Overheat Protection stops the cabin getting extremely hot in sunny weather for a while after you leave the car. You can choose:
- On: uses air conditioning to keep the cabin below the threshold.
- No A/C: uses only the fan. Gentler on the battery.
- Off.
It's designed to protect the interior and electronics, and to make the car more comfortable when you return, not to keep pets or children safe.
Battery use
Running the air conditioning or heating in a parked car uses more energy than idle. In the UK's mild climate, Cabin Overheat Protection with "No A/C" is often enough.
