Glass roof heat and sunshades

Most Teslas have a large glass roof. It's tinted and coated to block most UV and some heat, but on sunny days you can still feel warmth on your head.

Do sunshades help?

Yes, for comfort. Clip-in mesh or reflective shades reduce the heat and glare from the roof. Less heat coming in means the air conditioning works a little less, but the effect on range is small in the UK.

What to look for

• A shade made for your exact model and year, so it fits the frame.
• Easy to fit and remove, so you can take it out in winter for more light.
• Storage bag, so it doesn't crease.

Other ways to keep cool

• Cabin Overheat Protection when parked in the sun.
• Pre-cool from the app before you get in.
• Park facing away from the sun where you can.
