Camera condensation and fogging
The side cameras in the pillars between the front and rear doors can fog up inside in damp weather, which is common in the UK. A fogged camera can limit Autopilot features or show a warning.
Why it happens
Warm, moist air gets trapped inside the camera housing and condenses on the cold glass on a chilly morning.
What helps
- It usually clears within 15 to 30 minutes of driving as the car warms up.
- Preconditioning the cabin before you leave can help.
- Parking in a garage reduces temperature swings.
Getting it fixed
If the cameras fog often, or the fog doesn't clear, book a service appointment through the app with photos. Tesla has replaced affected camera housings under warranty for many owners.
