Supercharger stall pairing explained
On older (V2) Superchargers, each power cabinet feeds two stalls, labelled with the same number and a letter: 1A and 1B, 2A and 2B, and so on. Two cars on the same pair share the cabinet's power.
How to choose a stall
- Look at the stall labels on the post or the ground.
- Find a pair where both stalls are empty, and take one.
- If every pair has one car, choose the pair where the other car has been charging longest: it will be near full and taking little power.
The car that plugged in first usually keeps most of the power until its battery fills.
Does this happen at newer Superchargers?
No. V3 and V4 stalls are numbered 1, 2, 3 without letters, and each car gets its own power, although a whole site can still be limited if its grid supply is busy.
Etiquette
Don't park next to another car on a V2 pair when a free pair is available. If you must share, it is polite to unplug once you have enough. See Supercharger etiquette.
