Hotel and destination charging
Tesla Destination chargers are Tesla Wall Connectors that Tesla supplies to hotels, restaurants and attractions. Many other hotels have their own chargers from other brands. They charge slowly, which is perfect overnight.
Are they free?
It depends on the host. Some hotels include charging in the room price, some add a fee to your bill and some charge through an app. Many are for guests or customers only. Each charger page on this site shows the access type, such as "Private – for staff, visitors or customers".
Ask when you book:
- Is there a charger, and how many bays?
- Is it free for guests, or what does it cost?
- Can I reserve a bay or is it first come, first served?
How fast?
Destination chargers usually give 7 to 11 kW, enough to add 25 to 40 miles of range an hour to a Model 3 or Model Y. A night's charge fills most batteries. Tesla Wall Connectors have their own cable, so you do not need your own.
Choosing a hotel by its charger
On a long trip a hotel with a charger saves a morning stop. Look at the hotels page or the area pages, such as the Lake District or Cornwall, for places to stay with charging.
Etiquette
- Move your car in the morning if other guests are waiting. Leaving a note with your room number helps.
- Do not unplug another guest's car unless the hotel says that is the system.
- If the charger is broken, tell reception: the hotel arranges the repair, not Tesla.
